EPA Section 608 Technician Certification

EPA 608 certification prep that starts with questions

EPA 608 certification is the federal credential you need to service, repair or dispose of stationary refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment that could release refrigerant, and you earn it by passing a test given by an EPA-approved certifying program. Sight Glass is where you practice for that test: exam-style questions that explain every option, a timed mock, and a study guide organized by exam section.

With a test date already booked, the timed mock shows the weak section fastest. Without one, a few rounds of the mixed practice test will find it for you.

Why each question explains its wrong options

In 608 practice, wrong options tend to borrow a real number from the neighboring rule: the 0 psig level for a non-major repair offered as a disposal evacuation level, or comfort cooling's 10% leak rate offered for commercial refrigeration, which is 20% for appliances holding 50 lb or more of ozone-depleting refrigerant (40 CFR 82.156 and 82.157, eCFR as of October 5, 2026). You learn to separate them by running into them, so every question on this site comes with a note on each option, the wrong ones included.

Each topic in the EPA 608 study guide covers one rule in a few screens and ends in a drill on that rule alone, and the EPA 608 flashcards carry the figures you'll want cold by test day.

Before you choose where to test

EPA approves the programs that give the test and lists 84 of them, some with remote or online-only testing and some in Spanish (EPA list of certification programs, checked October 7, 2026). There's no single fee: each program sets its own, which is why the cost of EPA 608 certification is a table of programs with dates, and how to get EPA 608 certified covers the steps from choosing a type to holding the card.

One date matters this year: ESCO Institute says exams drawn from EPA's old question bank can be given only through January 1, 2027 (ACHR News, September 19, 2026, checked October 7, 2026), and the new EPA 608 exam explains what that changes for you.
